Despite operating within the World Health Organisation’s Environmental Noise Guidelines, in 2019, Stansted logged 15,389 noise complaints, a sharp jump from the 742 recorded in 2012. The airport has frequently come under fire from local residents due to noisy nighttime take-offs. Any noise reduction is likely a warm welcome from Stansted’s neighbors.
